Maria Sharapova wins the Australian Open

Even with the squeaky shoe-issue sparked by Daniela Hantuchova - the Shriek going to the expense of training against it, Sharapova was able to bring out her best tennis and won an outstanding match 7-5 6-3. Ana Ivanovic was visibly upset at the beginning but when she gave her speech, wow, I remembered again why she reminded me of Hingis - everything came out like she was an expert in public relations - smiling, laughing, joking with a good taste of humour, thanking all the sponsors first.... even in defeat she is so charming. Total opposite when Sharapova took her turn.... I guess you just have to appreciate just her tennis, good thing I'm beginning to be a fan of hers - no more Henin and Williams for me!

P.S. and Oh before the awards presentation ended Vijay Singh mentioned Martina Hingis... the Australian Open will never end without her name being mentioned! She did after all appear in 6 straight finals winning the first three and winning 3 doubles titles simultaneously too! Aaaaw I miss Martina Hingis!
