It's that time of year again when those racquets are swinging and balls zooming again. The first big Grand Slam in Tennis is less than a week away and the grand old sport is in full gear - all tennis eyes are on Melbourne!
It's the Australian Open!
The Australian Open is my most favourite Grand Slam, since my all-time favourite Martina Hingis has won this event 3 times in a row in both singles and doubles from 1997 to 1999, and won another doubles in 2002 and most recently a mixed title in 2006!
But since former no.1 Hingis (15 total gs titles) is officially retired and more, my favourites and of course, best bets are on current no.1s Roger Federer (12 total gs titles) and Justine Henin (7 total gs titles).
Federer won this tournament in singles in 2004, 2006 and 2007. While Henin has won the Australian Open in singles in 2004.
The draws are yet to be announced, and so we will have to wait till the 11th.
Roger Federer looks to me as a 80% sure bet to win, meanwhile Henin for me is also a solid 80% to win. I mean there isn't much competition for the two - Federer lost 9 times last year (88% win-loss ratio), while Henin lost only 4 times last year (94% win-loss ratio).
I'll continue this post later, it's very late already!!! :)
